I believe that all of us could be experiencing boredom at work. Do you hate waking up so early in the morning, commute all the way to work, and then spend the whole day at the office? It feels like spending your life sentence in the prison, isn’t it?
Managers of the organization should notice this early in the office too, because bored workers may also affect other people within the organization as well. Managers tend to isolate them, believing bored workers are lazy.
Let me cite some ways to win over boredom:
Seek some variety at work.
You can ask your superior to assign you to do other challenging jobs as well. Ask them if they can allow you to handle Linux server administration, Database administration, etc.
Ask for additional training.
If you can ask your superior for additional training, you would most likely feel being valued and given many chances to opportunities in your career.
Socialize with officemates.
Listen to your colleagues about their stories regarding how they do their work, and you don’t only gain a friend but also learn how you would work well with them as a team. Join company-sponsored outdoor activities.
For managers, I think that they should be understanding why their staffs experience boredom. Maybe the problem lies with how you delegate their work too, and see if the kind of work is challenging enough or not.
Do you have other ideas ? please share!

Boredom in the workplace could also be a sign that you should switch the company.
Hi Daniel, Thanks for your comment!
I hope that would be the last resort of a bored employee at work
because he/she shouldn’t resort to that.but still, there is still a way to prevent the situation to lead to loss of important member of the team.I think it depends on the cause of boredom. If you are, for example, bored of using PHP, then it might help to do a project in a new programming language, or as you said in the article, “seek variety at work”. However, if the cause of boredom goes deeper, say you are bored of what “your” company does, then it becomes more difficult (but not impossible) to find another solution than switching the company.
Boredom leads to depression make sure you defeat it! Fight till the end socialize and drink beer :)
But seriously being a freelancer is really lonely. The pay is great but it’s sure silent in here.
Don’t worry Jed, I am not depressed or bored.
wahaha cute ng eyes! (yun lang pinansin? toink!)
